The IDOE team is in the process of updating data for the Federal Report Card for the 2023-2024 school year, as well as for previous years. Due to this, there may be slight interruptions in the datasets where not all indicators will currently have data for all years accessible by the year selector filter. IDOE will continue to update the years of data as they become available.

School Attendance Data

Student attendance measures whether students are considered "model attendees" by either demonstrating persistent attendance or improved attendance during the school year. Persistent attendance is defined as having at least a 96% attendance rate. Improved attendance is defined as improving the student's attendance rate by at least three percentage points from the prior school year to the current.

Chronic absenteeism is the rate of students who have been absent from school for at least 10 percent of the school year, for any reason.
